Bureau of Justice Assistance - Administers the Federal Public Safety Officers'

Benefit Program.  Provides death benefits and educational financial assistance to

spouses and children of Public Safety Officers killed in the line of duty.  Also

provides disability benefits to Public Safety Officers disabled in the line of duty.

Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) - National organization that provides services

and assistance to families and coworkers of fallen law enforcement officers. 

Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) - Administers LEOFF Plan 2 retirement

system benefits. Maintains membership records, collects contributions from members

and employers, pays benefits and communicates benefit information.  Also administers

the Deferred Compensation Program.

DRS Benefit Estimator for LEOFF Plan 2 - The Department of Retirement Systems

provides an on-line benefit estimator to assist you in your retirement planning. You can

use the estimator to calculate approximately the benefit you will receive from LEOFF 2

after you retire. Although the estimator uses current actuarial tables to calculate

reductions for early retirement and survivor payment options, the estimate you receive

will be based on information you provide. This will allow you to calculate your benefit

more than once to determine the effect of retiring on different dates, with different

salaries, or with different amounts of service credit.

Governor's Boards and Commissions - If you are interested in being nominated for a

LEOFF Plan 2 Retirement Board member position, you are encouraged to fill out an

application and submit it to the Governor's Office, even if there are currently no vacant

board positions.

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation - Provides peer counseling, training and

technical assistance for families and coworkers of firefighters killed in the line of duty.

experience studies. Staff support the Select Committee on Pension Policy.

Select Committee on Pension Policy - Studies issues related to the provisions of

retirement benefits and the funding of the retirement systems.  Develops underlying

retirement policies and recommends legislation to the Legislature.
